Our Team
The Stoneacre family is a synergy of good food, good drinks, and good company. Christopher and Chef Michael became fast friends attending Johnson and Wales University and have been best buds ever since. Journeying through post grad job experiences and friendship from Providence, to Newport, then onto New York. After becoming friends while working at a popular Rhode Island eatery, founders Christopher Bender and David Crowell went on to immerse themselves in the world of hospitality—taking jobs in New England and New York City—before returning to their roots in Newport to create Stoneacre. Nicole a Newport native met Christopher at the first iteration of their Newport restaurant endeavors and as they say, “the rest is history” and a lot of chemistry.
Together, this foursome of owners continues to evolve the Stoneacre name, sharing their passion and talents with the town they love to call ‘home.’
“People ask me, ‘Don’t you ever run out of ideas?’ Well, in the first place, I don’t use ideas. Every time I have an idea, it’s too limiting and usually turns out to be a disappointment. But I haven’t run out of curiosity.”
